Leadership Team

Dr. Farook founded Farwood in the late 1970s, and has since led its growth, expansion and transformation to become one of India’s premier luxury interior companies today. With a family heritage that is deeply entrenched in timber production through generations of timber plantations, Farook’s passion for wood started very early. With his innate understanding of the most used natural resource in interior decoration, and his inclination to experiment and innovate, Farook was instrumental in bringing to India a number of new technologies and designs genres from around the world. In 2013, he was awarded a doctorate for his role in the introduction of the revolutionary Honeycomb technology in the manufacture of lightweight panels. This technology not only enabled the production of lighter and stronger panels, but was also eco-friendly due to its use of recycled materials and reduced dependence on precious natural wood.

As CMD, Dr. Farook continues to provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and design input to Farwood’s executive and creative teams. He resides in Chennai with his family, though often visiting client sites across India, and important industry events around the world.

Fazil joined Farwood in the year 2007, working on the factory floor to understand technology, processes, and systems involved in panel processing and manufacturing of high end furniture. He subsequently moved to Farwood’s marketing and sales functions, eventually taking responsibility for the entire marketing and customer relations organisation. Fazil’s tenure as the Executive Director in charge of marketing and customer relations has resulted in Farwood growing exponentially with a renewed focus on customer centricity, and with strong footprints in the digital space.

Fazil is a graduate in Business Administration and a Post Graduate in Management from Monash University, Australia.

Ravi joined Farwood in 2011 as President, Strategy & Governance after a long and successful career in corporate banking in leadership positions with some of India’s leading public and private sector banks. Upon laying the groundwork for the successful execution of Farwood’s strategy, he chose to convert his role to an advisory position in 2013 due to his personal commitments.

Ravi currently advises Farwood’s leadership team on strategy, finance, legal and HR issues. He also oversees the line management on various matters to ensure that even routine activities are oriented towards achieving the company’s overarching mission.

Ravi is a graduate of Science and Law from the University of Madras, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
